Eparchy of Mavelikara
“How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!” Psalm 84:1
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church entered a new era with the erection of the Eparchy of Mavelikara — named for the birthplace of Archbishop Mar Ivanios, father of the Reunion Movement — to serve the faithful of north-western Trivandrum with prayer, pastoral care, and communion.
Welcome to the Diocese
A community rooted in Malankara tradition and Catholic communion.
Declared on 1 January 2007 and inaugurated on 16 February 2007 at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Punnamoodu, the Eparchy gathers Mavelikara and Kollam districts with parts of Chengannur and Adoor under one pastoral fold.
Today the Diocese continues the mission of formation, parish life, education, and charity — walking with families, clergy, and religious in faith and service.
